FOR BACKCOUNTRY Adventure owners Jerry Johnson, his wife Jacquelyn, and their two
children Keith and Kendra, the Gallatin National Forest around West Yellowstone
and Yellowstone National Park have been their backyard playgrounds from the
time they could walk. Jerry, a second generation Montanan, grew up working in
the hospitality industry with his parents owning and operating motels in West
Yellowstone for the past 65 years. He attended Montana State University, served as
mayor of West Yellowstone for five years, and still sits on the City Commission.
The staff at Backcountry Adventures has their own history as well-each with
anywhere from 31 to 62 years of experience in the West Yellowstone area. The shop
is located in two joined historic log cabins that belonged to one of the first families
in West Yellowstone.
